About You:

Key Responsibilities:

• Assessing and planning nursing care requirements
• Caring for patients with acute conditions - building relationships and responding to their physical and emotional needs, while delivering effective care
• Dealing with the specific symptoms of mental illness, de-escalating stressful situations and helping patients overcome challenges
• Combating stigma and helping patients and their families manage it
• Administering medication and treatments and monitoring results
• Reviewing and approving care plans and monitoring progress
• Giving advice and arranging support for patients, relatives and carers
• Liaising with doctors, social workers and other professionals
• Writing and updating patient records, producing care plans and risk assessments
• Encouraging patients to take part in therapeutic activities such as art and role-play

Requirements:

• Degree in Mental Health Nursing
• At least 12 months of recent post-registration nursing experience working in the UK
• Registered Nurse with a valid NMC pin
• The right to work in the UK
• Up-to-date PVG check and proof of immunisations (Hepatitis B, Rubella, Varicella, TB and Measles)
• Full UK driving licence is essential and access to reliable vehicle
• An empathetic and non-judgemental approach to help others overcome social stigma related to mental health
• Good decision-making skills and knowledge of mental health first aid for responding appropriately to patients during mental health crises
• Excellent teamwork and observational skills to assess patients, administer medication and look out for triggers of risk behaviours
• Effective verbal and non-verbal communication and the ability to support individuals with varying levels of understanding
